Back in February our Gappers teamed up with our local youth group Foróige to do some volunteering and clean up Murvagh Beach. With assistance from Donegal County Council, who supplied the bags, high-vis jackets, gloves and pickers, our Gappers and Foróige spent the day cleaning up. A full day of volunteering saw them remove 25 large bags of rubbish from the beach and woodlands! Keeping our beaches and coastal areas clean is important to ensure that everyone can enjoy these beautiful spots, but more importantly is vital to keep our wildlife safe from rubbish and pollution. So many areas are affected by the actions of a few and by keeping beaches clean it reduces the chances of further dumping in these beautiful areas. It was so good to see our Gap Year students and Foróige volunteering and having a positive impact on the community , so much so they made the newspapers. A big thank you to the Donegal Post Newspaper for publishing the story about their great volunteering achievement.
