Our intrepid Spring Gappers get their travel on early and enjoyed everything that Galway has to offer including braving storm Doris to get out to the Aran Islands. Here’s a little snippet of their trip. Enjoy!

Emily’s Galway blog

Our first trip overnight was to Galway, Ireland. We stayed in the Kinlay hostel there. For many of us it was the first time we had stayed in a hostel. It was quite an experience.
The first day we had a bit of time to explore the local shops and cafes around Shop street. Most of the group split into smaller groups. Michelle, Lucrezia and I had a wonderful time together window shopping. We had lunch it a small cafe and it was wonderful.
Carter and Lucrezia cooked a meal for us all in the hostel. It was quite the experience using a kitchen that was being used by so many people.

The next day we took a ferry to the Aran Islands. The ferry was terrifying as the waves were massive. Once we finally made it safely, we got a bus tour of the island because it was too windy to bike. It was awesome. We saw the seven churches, the old walls of the island, some seals at the seaside and the huge cliffs at the island. The island was awesome we had a great day there.

The last night in Galway we hung out and played pool in the hostel. The fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate, but nothing was burning – it was just some people who pulled the alarm. Just another taste of hostel living.
We had a really fun time seeing the sights in Galway. It was an awesome trip and we can’t wait for the next one.
